Mandela at 90

Time Magazine. You get to know the latest buzz makers in general.

The July 21, 2008 issue of Time caters the remarkable eight-point principles of the veteran political leader, Nelson Mandela as he celebrates his 90th birthday. His countrymen describe him as the only "glue" which binds the citizenry and maintains the solidarity among the populace. Trully, Mandela makes a giant mark in the realm of political leadership.

  1. Courage is not the absence of fear -- it's inspiring others to move beyond it.
  2. Lead from the front -- but don't leave your base behind.
  3. Lead from the back -- and let others believe they are in front.
  4. Know your enemy -- and learn about his favorite sport.
  5. Keep your friends closer -- and your rivals even closer.
  6. Appearances matter -- and remember to smile.
  7. Nothing is black or white.
  8. Quitting is leading too.
  • Mandela believed that his rivals were more dangerous on their own than within his circle of influence.
  • Mandela's raised fist has become an enduring symbol for millions who struggle against injustice and oppression.
  • Mandela's rules are calibrated to cause the kind of trouble that forces us to ask how can we make a world a better place.

I agree with his 8 leadership principles. Especially these two:

# Lead from the front -- but don't leave your base behind.
# Lead from the back -- and let others believe they are in front.

Ay, nirerespeto ito ng mga aktibista.. as in.. isang emblem si Nelson Mandela pag dating sa taktika at pamumuno sa mga societies under aggression. And, yes nakakahanga hanggang sa prinsipyo niya.,

To hugo gonzales:
ngayon ko lang rin po nalaman.:)

To brokendamsel:
Yes. Para sa akin yung 8 iyon, pwedeng gawing mantra ng isang political aspirant dito sa bansa.

To railey:
I see, dati ka nga palang aktibista, kaya alam mo.
